Do pheromones work? To be quite honest, it wasn't that long ago that I had no idea what pheromones did or what they were or how they influenced not only the animal and insect world, but also humans. So what is a pheromone; or more to the point, a human pheromone?

Explaining Human Phermones

In short, pheromones are chemicals detected by an organ in the nose called a vomeronasal organ or VNO. It's connected directly to a part of the brain and unlike the nose which detects ordinary smells, the VNO has been described as being super sensitive capable of picking up the scent of these chemicals.

Many studies have been conducted during the past 40 years on the presence of human pheromones since it was discovered that there may be a correlation between a secret scent and attraction. Dr. Winifred Cutler is probably the best known scientist and researcher of pheromones and her studies and findings have opened our eyes to the possibility that they not only exist, but play a prominent role in our lives.

Pheromone enhanced products are available in spray, cologne or oil formations and sell for between $15 to $120 and in some cases higher. The pheromone marketing train is in full swing now and gathering momentum. All I can say in my findings is there are a lot of satisfied customers in the marketplace. I wonder though, if part of the success rate with pheromone products has something to do with the fact people who use them develop an air of confidence which is then projected out to the people around them. It may be a little like a person putting on a bullet-proof vest. Confident people attract. Just a theory?
